Prescription medicines for snoring
If your snoring is not resolved by over the counter options, there
are prescription medicines available. Snoring caused by nasal congestion
can be treated with a prescribed nasal spray or allergy medication. You
may also want to try anti-snoring herbal remedies. These are usually
marketed as pills and sold over the counter. However, you should still
consult with a doctor prior to choosing this remedy.
Snoring Cures - Surgery
In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to help alleviate snoring
symptoms. There are several operations available to reduce or eliminate
snoring. Most focus on reducing the soft tissue around a person’s
airway. Other procedures, such as the removal of one’s tonsils, may also
solve a snoring problem. Surgery is especially effective for sleep apnea
patients and those with severe, chronic snoring.
Other Snoring Cures
Other options that do not involve medication or surgery also exist.
Snoring mouth pieces and mouth guard
For people whose snoring is the result of improper mouth and throat
positioning, a mouth guard may be the answer. These products reduce
snoring by improving air flow. Although some mouth guards are sold in
stores, a custom model provided by your doctor or dentist may be more
comfortable and effective. Read more about

CPAP machine
Your doctor can also set you up with a CPAP
machine. CPAP stands for “continuous positive airway pressure.” Thus,
the mask-like device pushes air into a snorer’s throat to keep the
airway inflated during sleep. A CPAP machine is generally used only in
severe cases of snoring related to sleep apnea.
Snoreplasty procedure
For those who are wary of surgery, there is a relatively new
procedure known as a snoreplasty. During a snoreplasty, your doctor will
inject a “sclerosing agent” into your mouth. This will stiffen your
palate and reduce snoring-causing vibrations. According to clinical
studies, a snoreplasty can be effective at reducing snoring for up to
ninety-two percent of sufferers. However, in most cases, snoring was not
entirely eliminated. Furthermore, the effects of a snoreplasty are only
temporary and many patients have to undergo repeat procedures.
Snoring is one of the most common and most frustrating problems
people face. It not only disrupts your own sleep, but can prevent others
from resting as well. However, with the number of cures available, it is
possible to alleviate or even eliminate snoring symptoms. The key is to
find the right method to solve your unique problem. Whether you choose
to see a doctor of use over the counter remedies, there is sure to be a
way for you to rest easier.
